When I first heard of Funeral Party it was through a YouTube link for their single "Finale" off their debut studio album entitled "The Golden Age of Nowhere. I wasn't planning on even giving them a try as I was quick to write them off as just another indie rock group but after listening to them I quickly changed my mind.
The band is compiled of members Chad, Kimo, James and Tim who are all from good old California, USA. The band was thankfully given the opportunity to record their album when the Producer for the Mars Volta heard them and invited them to record. It has received overall positive reviews by most. Lead singer Chad went on to say about the album title which was inspired by 'The Lord of the Flies', "I was just really into the idea of a civilization restarting but with a new mentality of, like, kids starting it up. Like something brand new". The upbeat tone of the album provides some awesome party tunes if that’s what gets your rocks off. If not, you can listen to the album if you just want to be put into a good mood; it's that awesome.
Upon doing some more research into the bands history it seems that I and probably many others have been missing out on listening to this awesome band for the past seven or so years. The single "Finale" was definitely chosen to be the album’s first single for a reason. The song gives a preview of what to look forward to with the rest of the album and that is some awesome indie-rock that you can and will want to dance to. Check out the single on YouTube because the music video to go along with it is equally as good as the song. After that I think you will be more than eager to go and purchase the album off of iTunes. After all, from beginning to end the album was in the works since 2008.
