music

Today someone posted a facebook update stating that the new devil wears prada is epic. Personally I stopped listening to most music of that kind of genre. Mostly because I would rather listen to music that is easier on the ears. I just find it annoying listening to screaming now. Anyways I was kind of annoyed how that music was being described that way because it doesnt deserve it quite frankly. I think I used to listen to that stuff as more of a popularity type thing and also to fit in but whatever. I have also learned to like what I like.

The main reason for this rant/entry was to show off some amazing actually epic in scale music. A group of people went literally around the world to record tracks for some pretty amazing compilations. Now lets put it this way...a group of young teens/20 somethings screaming and playing crappy guitar riffs or many many people all over the world who are experts at their particular instruments mixed together into one song....whats epic? yeah.

This cover of Stand By Me was recorded by completely unknown artists in a street virtual studio all around the world. It all started with a base track—vocals and guitar—recorded on the streets of Santa Monica, California, by a street musician called Roger Ridley. The base track was then taken to New Orleans, Louisiana, where Grandpa Elliott—a blind singer from the French Quarter—added vocals and harmonica while listening to Ridley's base track on headphones. In the same city, Washboard Chaz's added some metal percussion to it.

And from there, it just gets rock 'n' rolling bananas: The producers took the resulting mix all through Europe, Africa, and South America, adding new tracks with multiple instruments and vocals that were assembled in the final version you are seeing in this video. All done with a simple laptop and some microphones.

Happy Birthday

You have been there to help me out on so many occasions, you go great with everything and I love you. I am sorry I have not been there much with you lately but I have been growing up and discovered that some things are just better without you. Don't worry though, you will always be there for burgers, fries, hot dogs and other fast foods. Happy 100th ketchup.

watch this

I only ever really like watching the MTV movie awards for the little movies and clips between the awards. Those are what makes the show good. I could care less about the actual awards ceremony. A few of the more memorable ones are the spider man spoof with Jack Black and the Batman Begins car chase scene spoof which are below. But back to the point of this. Andy Samberg is hosting this year and I am looking forward to it thats for sure. I am probably going to just record it and fast forward through the awards part.

Here is a commercial for this years show with Jack Black and Michael Cera.

The Spider Man spoof

Batman spoof

These Star Wars cupcakes would be deliciously awesome rihgt about now if I wasn't feeling ill!!

want to seeeeee

Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell) is nearing the end of his contract with Lunar. He's been a faithful employee for 3 long years. His home has been Selene, a moon base where he has spent his days alone, mining Helium 3. The precious gas holds the key to reversing the Earth's energy crisis.

Isolated, determined and steadfast, Sam has followed the rulebook obediently and his time on the moon has been enlightening, but uneventful. The solitude has given him time to reflect on the mistakes of his past and work on his raging temper. He does his job mechanically, and spends most of his available time dreaming of his imminent return to Earth, to his wife, young daughter and an early retirement.

But 2 weeks shy of his departure from Selene, Sam starts seeing things, hearing things and feeling strange. And when a routine extraction goes horribly wrong, he discovers that Lunar have their own plans for replacing him and the new recruit is eerily familiar.

Before he can return to Earth, Sam has to confront himself and the discovery that the life he has created, may not be his own. It's more than his contract that is set to expire.

This looks really good. A nice science fiction movie with a touch of horror/thriller to it. Definitely one of my favorite combination's in a movie. I love looking forward to good movies coming out.

Oh and I watched the leaked version of wolverine yesterday. It was actually decent and I kind of want to go see it in theaters for the final cut of the film because the unfinished effects made it kind of funny when it wasn't supposed to be.

Today is work though 1-9. Fortunately since I will be working on a holiday I will be making time and a half plus earning holiday pay which will make it worthwhile. Also since it is a holiday I am hoping it is not too busy.

warm and cozy

I would pay like a 100 bucks for this sleeping bag! FOR REAL!
Too bad it was an april fools joke :'(

*__^

I think I am going to be trying tequila for the first time on saturday with Avery. Before that experience though Avery will be taking me to lunch and hopefully going to see observe and report if it comes to the theater here...which it better. I am sick of movies I want to see not come here. Most recently I Love You, Man. I really want to see that damnit!!!

Anyways tomorrow is another lovely day off so that will mean video games and I don't really know what else during the day but hanging out with Avery and watching Hells Kitchen, and TWO episodes of the office. On the subject of tv shows it was finally/kinda revealed what the smoke monster was on LOST. That was a big mystery in the show pretty much shown tonight. I am going to be so sad when the show ends. The final episode will be a sad affair thats for sure.

I think its time for some video games though? Yeah.

yummy looking juiceboxes

I bet you want to try one!!

I do...

You drank way too much last night, ignored me and then I was the one there to take care of you. Meanwhile you were telling other people they were the only ones you could rely on and are your only family...thanks.
